This charming house, one of Liepāja’s oldest buildings, has the distinction of having hosted the Russian tsar during his journey of the “Great Embassy” to Western Europe in 1697. Peter I stayed here incognito.
Coincidentally, another historic house across the street served as accommodation for King Charles XII of Sweden, the tsar’s rival during the Great Northern War.
Both buildings are closed, and they can only be viewed from the outside.
