"After dozens of articles in famous magazines and post-exhibition brochures, edited both in our country and abroad, finally, the wonderful monograph of the outstanding contemporary graphic artist Guram Dolendjashvili sees the light.

It is a real gift for artists, art historians and students of the artistic higher education institutions.

Possessor of academic artistic education, master of virtually every king of graphic art, he is the creator of more than a hundred sheets, that show not only his motherland Georgia, but also various sights of the enormous country of Russia. His works can be found in dozens of museums of the world, large national galleries.

Guram travels a lot, which is why the geography of his artistic works is so diversified. Throughout the album, the reader will get acquainted with all the stages of creative technique, that he is master of.

His love for pencil drawing had been sharpened throughout many years and reached outstanding results.

In his works we will hardly see any strokes. The artist seems to mold his queer compositions with touched of the pencil. Amazing, that basing on the three basic colors – the white gray and black, his works become silver, or rather silvery, behind which an experienced and sensitive observer seems to hear movement and see colour.

It is precisely the amount of the grey gradations that are used by the master, allowed to transfer such an wide range of tonal relations.

Guram is beyond doubts a romantic. His works are romantic, regardless of what and how is depicted on them, sometimes chamber and peaceful, sometimes dynamic and monumental.

The drawing is precise and strict and the space compositions are concrete, wherefrom one can see a brilliant mastery of air perspective.

Besides several works deprived from complex object compositions, which differs him from the many other graphic artists. However, the detailed working out of the depicted models, be it even aquafortis, the pencil doesn’t split it, but makes a whole volume, which in turn males the works monumental, regardless of the work’s format.

In spite the lightness, airiness of his pencil drawings, one can feel the laboriousness and complexity of their creation. Some of the works took long month and even years.

Parting from the large complex of principal defining attributes in the artistic solution of the works of art, one should mention the main: civic consciousness, love for the depicted (we won’t see any commercial works here), temperament, kindness, fantasy and beyond doubts – the outstanding mastery of execution, be it aquafortis, aquarelle, pencil.

Today we enjoy the beauty of the works created by Guram: his fairy cities, cosmic sky, soft furry snow, unusual trees, people.

It may seem a paradox, but the whole art of this painter is not ment for observance of the brilliant works only, it also has an appeal to preserve all that the painter depicted with so much tenderness, care and reverence.

Moon landscapes with trees, dressed in silvery snow do not belong to Georgia only nowadays, but to the whole world, where one can see the miracle, captured by one of the most outstanding contemporary painters, Guram Dolendjashvili.

Maestro of the world graphics, Stanislav Nikireev said the following about the art of Guram: «It is joy for the eyes, heart and soul». One couldn’t say better".
